Dental Exams, Cleanings & Fillings

It is generally recommended for kids to visit the dentist by the age of 1, or within 6 months of their first tooth erupting. Baby teeth are more susceptible to decay than adult teeth, and even though they eventually shed, it is extremely important to maintain the health of baby teeth as they impact a child’s nutrition, speech, and facial development.

At The Smile Space, we perform kids dental exams and cleanings, as well as fillings if needed.

Orthodontic Treatment

Children should be evaluated by an orthodontist by the age of 7. Baby teeth help guide the eruption and positioning of adult teeth. By catching dental or jaw growth problems early on, we can prevent them from getting worse and possibly eliminate the need for extensive treatment later in life. Depending on your child's specific case, we may prescribe an oral appliance, partial braces, or special devices that can help modify growth or stop bad habits, such as thumb-sucking.

Things to look out for in your child:

  • Early or late loss of baby teeth

  • Difficulty in chewing or biting

  • Mouth breathing

  • Jaw that shifts or makes sounds

  • Speech difficulties

  • Biting the cheek or roof of the mouth

  • Facial imbalance

  • Grinding or clenching of the teeth

  • Thumb-sucking or other oral habits
